SPRINGFIELD

A contemporary stylish two-storey extension to an existing suburban 1960s semi-detached house.

The new extension replaces a single storey garage and creates a new living space, a double bedroom with ensuite, a utility room, cloakroom, storage and playroom.

In terms of materials, rather than creating a pastiche by trying to match the existing reconstituted Bathstone facing blocks, the new extension creates a contemporary statement and contrasts with the existing house by using dark-stained Douglas Fir timber cladding. This will be a highly sustainable finish to the facade, and works beautifully to compliment the pale stone.
